We have had a fly in our house for so long that we are thinking of giving it a name. Maybe “Gregor.” It seems fond of us – possibly more of our warmth than our personalities. It follows us around the house, and lands in places that are so close to us that we can’t get a good angle on whacking it with a magazine. The fly swatter is outside, winterized inside the bench. We have opened the door and suggested, using both words and gestures, that it could fly away, but it seems to have decided that it’s too cold to be outside. I suppose the three of us will have to get through at least some of the winter together and I will probably miss it when it is gone.
